Hunkeler innovationdays: A Resoundlingly Successful Event

This event which is held every two years and which was previously held in hall 1 was this year extended into the similarly sized hall 2.

By moving the catering area into hall 2 this left the entire 5’000 m² in hall 1 available to the exhibitors – a significant increase in the available exhibiting area. In spite of this increase the crowd pressure was in no way reduced from previous Hunkeler innovationdays. This event showed itself once again to be a magnet for the public, not just visitors from German speaking countries, but also from other countries. So that in the first two days more English-speaking contacts were made on the Docucom/Compart stand than those from German speakers.

In particular the hardware manufacturers used the event to release a flood of latest developments to the public: Océ for example, next to other advances showed the full color continuous feed duplex printer, the Colorstream 1000 with a fifth color station for high-quality printing of CI colors in full color spectrum, the InfoPrint Solutions from Ricoh and IBM the new and faster high-speed models of the InfoPrint 5000 family, Müller Martini with their SigmaLine a digital book printing system, with which individual books in different sizes for small print runs down to “print run of 1” can be productively printed as “Book-on-Demand”, and last but not least the organizer itself the Hunkeler POPP6 system, with a range of finishing modules to cater for roll-roll operation, roll-fanfold or the processing from roll to single sheets or the processing of paper webs up to a width of 520 mm.

Our Swiss system integrator Docucom, together with Böwe, Compart and Xerox, showed a digital mailroom scenario under the motto “Live Transaction Printing” in which they demonstrated a typical automated, networked, document production system.

Again this year at the same location and parallel to the trade show, the DOXNET event was held – this time in the Luzerne Transport Museum in the surrounding area of the transport exhibition with a whole line of spectacular exhibits of transport technology.

The next Hunkeler innovationdays will take place in the newly constructed hall 1 – certainly again set to be an event to make its mark, probably even bigger and as always well organized!
