The First International PDF/A Conference: PDF/A Know-how for Experts and Novice Users

The conference is organized in separate tracks allowing the attendee to participate according to their experience, business requirements and area interest. An accompanying exhibition of PDF/A member companies will complement the presentations. The two-day conference will highlight the latest utilization of the ISO standard for long-term archiving, presented by users from major international corporations, software developers, as well as international PDF/A experts. Keynote speakers include Dr. Jim King, PDF Architect from Adobe Systems Inc., as well as Rory Staunton, Managing Director of Strategy Partners International and Stephen Levenson of the US District Courts.

The first day provides 3 presentation tracks for novice users, experienced users, as well as a special track for developers and IT experts. The second day has tracks targeted for specific business users including archiving, libraries and public sector, construction, manufacturing, engineering, and business-to-customer (i.e. financial, insurance and telecommunications companies). Some sample tracks include end users like the Koninklijke Bibliothek (Royal Library of the Netherlands) and the multinational corporation ABB, both of which will review their success with PDF/A applications. In the Business to Customer-Track, Harald Grumser, Managing Director of Compart Systemhaus GmbH, address the size perceptions of PDF/A documents in the “PDF/A for High Volume Output Management – Aren’t PDF/A files to big for massive archives?”.

The closing of the PDF/A conference will be a panel discussion conducted by Harald Grumser and Olaf Drümmer, callas Software GmbH, both board members of the PDF/A Competence Center.
